First and foremost, I would like to thank Patrizia Wasserman (I Love) for making this interview happened and of course Gordon for taking some time off of his busy schedule to respond to this interview.
Gordon Bothe |I Love|–a 22-year-old Swedish model has quickly become one of the most sought after model. Gordon has quite the success ever since he sent his picture to his first agency (Avenue Modeller). He has walked for Roberto Cavalli, Bottega Veneta, Ermenegildo Zegna, John Richmond, Versace, Kenzo to name a few.
As if those aren’t enough, Gordon has under his belt, editorials portfolio from VMAN, GQ (Italy & UK), Flaunt, FHM Collections, GQ Style ad BMM. He is definitely a force to be reckoned with!
He has a charming personality very down to earth. Anyway, check out the full interview below!

01 – Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hey Vincent Ko, I’m really really really goodlooking ^.^ Hahaha I hope you watched Zoolander or else you’ll think Im a complete idiot :P. No I’m a quite introvert person. For example if there is a show or big casting, there are always groups gathering. I’m usually the guy who sits in the corner enjoying a book or playing games on my Android phone. It doesn’t mean I don’t like to have friends. I just choose them carefully haha. I LOVE FOOD that’s part of my guilty pleasure more on that in question #12 ;). I have a background in Soccer so I am very competitive but that doesn’t really work haha I can’t “win” against competition, which is other models so the only one im competitive is with me. I always push myself to do the best job I can and to be professional.
02 – How were you discovered? What was your thought when you first got discovered?
Back in spring 2007 I was dating this girl. She, our family members and me thought that it would be wonderful to have some nice photos for our upcoming prom! I ask my father who has a decent system camera. So a couple of days later we stand in the backyard wearing our biggest smiles and pose in front of my father and the result was good, according to friends and family that saw it on Facebook. I got the advice from many to give modeling a try but I didn’t really consider it then. But when I got severely injured playing soccer I thought… why not give modeling a shot. I asked around for the best local agency, found it and sent in my prom pictures to Avenue Modeller in my home city Gothenburg. The rest is history as they say..
03 – Have you always had any interest in fashion before you started modeling?
Sweden is generally updated on the latest fashions. But I can’t say I was. I was probably one of the worst dressed people even though I didn’t realize it until I started modeling :P. So no before modeling I wasn’t into fashion. Now I am not as terrible as I’d like to think :)..Maybe in a few years I’ll look back at pictures and I’ll ask myself, “what was I thinking wearing those shoes?!? “
04 – Describe your style.
I take inspiration from my brother’s Rocky style and Italian elegance. So I would describe my style as classic with a hint of dark mystery. ;). There are also days I just want to wear colorful clothes and show a lighter side of me.
05 – Which photographer would you like to work with in the future?
Peter Lindbergh. First time I shot with him was in Paris for a story in Harpers Bazaar with Chloe Sevigny. I just started modeling so I was just a background puppet having no role in the shooting. The second time I was going to shoot with Lindbergh was when I was in NY for CK Jeans Adv. But unfortunately I was already booked for CK Jeans the same day so I missed out on a cover with Eva Herzigova with Lindbergh for Harpers or Marie Claire can’t remember for who, so I always felt like I want a second chance. He’s an excellent storyteller. The phrase “a picture is worth more than thousand words” doesn’t give him justice.
06 – What do you do when you’re not modeling?
I spend my time mostly in front of my Laptop studying nowadays. I am taking a online course for Real Estate. When I’m not, I hang out with friends, work out, read, play computer games, go to the movies, have a “few” drinks in the weekends hehehe.
07 – What music you’re listening to at the moment?
Since I’m mostly studying I have started to appreciate cinematic classical music for enhanced studying. For example “Arrival of the Birds” by Cinematic Orchestra is just magical gives me chills everytime. It’s my alarm song in the morning! There is no way you can wake up in a bad mood by hearing something so beautiful 🙂 * tip *
When in a different mindset I like HipHop. When it’s time to work out Metal is excellent.
08 – Who is your fashion icon?
09 – Any advice for other people who want to be a model?
Hard truth is, If you are trying really hard to be a model…Then it isn’t for you. Either people will pull you in, or push you out.
10 – If you weren’t modeling, what would you be doing?
Studying Real Estate at home or perhaps I would have continued playing soccer.
11 – Tell me one country you would like to visit and why.
New Zealand for its incredibly beautiful diverse nature
If I could answer place I would say the space. I think that would be the most spiritual experience anyone can have. To get a greater sense of what life is.
12 – What’s your guilty pleasure?
Chocolate, white chocolate, hazelnut chocolate, chocolate bars, Nutella, Kinder Bueno, Kinder Cereal, Pancakes with Nutella and Bananas, Crunchy Chocolate, chocolate with strawberry filling, Chocolate with Peanut butter, chocolate ice cream…You get the point ;). What devastates me is that I recently realized that I get pimples from chocolate Hahahaha I think I was in denial before…
13 – What has been your best and worst experience so far?
That I can’t eat as much chocolate as I wan’t 😛 haha no seriously I can’t say it enough, I am basically getting paid to see the world, to experience new cultures, meet new people, eat new food try new things and it all is coming almost at no cost for me, at the end of my trip I have more money then I had before. It’s amazing I feel truly blessed.
So to summarize, it is generally traveling that’s my best experience and still is.
Worst experience is missing my flight… When there is nothing to do and I’m just stuck in an airport and I have no options of getting out of there until 2 days later. Not fun.
14 – What’s next for Gordon Bothe?
I have big hopes for my future. I dream big. Since I’m studying Real Estate It will definitely be in that direction my life will go. Modeling is nothing I have to ever say stop to. I will just be more selective of what I take since I have other priorities.
