It’s a good time for menswear right now, not for a while have we been spoiled with such quality output from virtually every corner of the industry. Brands have really stepped up their game despite the pinch most of us are feeling on the purse strings when usually you find fashion goes very ‘safe’ at such times, not this time. Spring/summer 2012 has seen some beautiful garments from brands such as Carhartt, Pretty Green, Trainerspotter and Nudie Jeans to name just a few.
As if we weren’t being spoiled enough there are some High Summer collections being released right now that more than warrant some attention. One that has really caught our eye here at Northern Threads is the bright, bold designs from Luke 1977, so that’s why we’ve based a summer looks feature around it (with some of their springwear mixed in for good measure too).We grabbed one of our sales assistants to model each of the looks below to give you a good indication of how the clothes hang on the body.
One of the great things about the latest Luke 1977 apparel is that it can be teamed up with virtually anything; here we’ve put together their Lucky contrast collar polo and Murcia perforated slip on with these neat Farah Vintage Chester cotton chino shorts.
The second look is a nice choice for the sun with this Luke 1977 Bristol Bob stripe top shining brightly and matched up with muted Dr. Denim Donk chinos and Original Penguin Lakeside espadrilles.
If you’re looking for an outfit that toes the line between casual and formal, look no further. This Barbour Alvington polo looks fantastic alongside this pair of Three Paris cotton shorts from Selected. When it comes to footwear, go for a brand that never fails to deliver – Vans, here we’ve picked out their Era 59 sneaks.
The final Luke 1977 piece we’ve chosen is the crisp lemon Georgy vintage sporting polo. Wear it with a highly-sought-after-this-season piece of swimwear, Vilebrequin Moorea Lotus shorts – a statement piece if ever we saw one.
Hopefully these suggested looks have got your creative juices flowing with regard to putting together the perfect summer wardrobe.
