So many exciting holidays are coming up –– we’ve got Christmas, New Year’s Eve and New Year. With that, I’m sure you have a lot of exciting parties or events to attend. This is actually the best time to experiment your look and of course to impress your love ones. Don’t worry I’ve got you covered, as I have put together a look that will make you look like the perfect gentleman without being trying too hard.

I think every man should own at least one velvet blazer that they only wear for special occasions, such as birthday party, wedding, Christmas party and New Year’s Eve party. With the right velvet jacket, you can create a sophisticated and chic look just like that. Now, with velvet blazer, you want to choose colors such as maroon, navy and black––stay away from loud and bright colors as they will get you attentions for the wrong reasons.

Now, what you wear under the blazer is also very important as you don’t want it to overpower the blazer, I would suggest wearing a black or navy turtleneck sweater or a white dress shirt. For the bottom, I would suggest a pair of slim fit trousers or if you don’t want to be too formal, wear a slim fit black jeans or indigo jeans.

For shoes, I would recommend a pair of sleek shoes, such as the LACOSTE SHERBROOKE (picture is shown below). With the suede upper and textured leather side panels feature along with the golf inspired lace cover, these shoes will take your wardrobe to the next level. I would wear this with the indigo jeans as the dark color jeans will bring out the contrast in these shoes. Another option would be loafers, like the Cole Haan ‘Pinch Buckle’ Loafers––these shoes are sleek, classic and sophisticated.

To complete the look, I would accessorize this look with a bow tie and a sleek leather strap watch. Side note, if you’re not comfortable wearing a velvet jacket, you can wear a tweed or cotton blazer.
