The autumn winter 2014 collection from Ermenegildo Zegna is built on the spring summer’s collection––a  union of industry and savoir-fair. When we hear the name Zegna, we immediately know what to expect of the brand and the new collection is full of pieces that are sophisticated, elegant and modern with a twist. Stefano Pilati plays around with textures, patterns, functionality and fabrics. Sportswear has always been an inspiration in every single collection and this time is no different––Pilati merges sportswear with formalwear for most of the items. Dark tonal colors are used along with light colors to create a contrast that highlights the clothes’s design and look.

Luxurious fabrics, such as Fine wool, noble cashmere and precious vicuña are used in conjunction with British hunting covert fabrics; Japanese nylon; silk or wool woven with Cordura or Kevlar. All these elements juxtapose the flattering silhouettes from the clothes, making them stand out even more. Sporty looks become more elegant whilst the formal looks become even more stunning. Pilati definitely knows what he’s doing and you can see that his ideas translate so well on the clothes––sharp tailoring and impeccable design and cut.
