Who says that you can only unwind on the weekend? Sometimes, it is always good to take a breather, whether it’s from work, life or school. I’m sure everyone has their own way of unwinding, but mine is to dine. As much as I love fashion, I think I will always be a foodie at heart. In fact, I consider dining as one of my many ‘hobbies’ and just recently I have developed another passion – and that is interior design.
Recently, I got the chance to collaborate with Bymark Restaurant, one of Chef Mark McEwan’s many restaurants here in Toronto. I was there for lunch, along with my friend Cynthia of Pinch of Chic. When I got there, the restaurant was already filled with executives who were there for their lunch break or a business meeting. Bymark offers three dining locations – patio, lounge area (located on the second floor) and last but certainly not least, the dining room (located below the street level). The dining room are offers more tables and seating areas. The lounge are is probably one my favourites, because it has got a modern, sophisticated and elegant decor. If you want to impress someone, make sure to bring them here. The area in the back particularly gives me a ‘Mad Men’ vibe – from the luxe chairs to the marble coffee tables and rug. This lounge area incorporates the open space design with the patio located right next to it. Unfortunately, the patio isn’t available at this time because of the weather.
The service in this restaurant is very top-notch; the hostess and waitress are all very attentive and most importantly, very friendly and welcoming. Cynthia and I ordered the classic ‘Bymark’s Shrimp Tacos,’ ‘Baby Octopus and Grilled Calamari,’ and ‘Coconut Cured B.C. Albacore Tuna‘ as the prelude to our mains, which were ‘Fogo Island Cod Tempura,’ and ‘ Buffalo Ricotta and Spinach Agnolotti.’ We told our waitress to bring everything out at once so that we could take photos of them. Let me tell you, every single item that we ordered not only looked great, but also tasted great. All three of the sides that we ordered were light, refreshing and each individual ingredient on there complimented one another. The sides and mains were rich in flavours, almost like an orchestra was playing in my mouth.
