Sometimes, when you have a good thing going, it’s always better to either keep it that way or give it a subtle tweak. This year, Converse is giving the classic and iconic Chuck Taylor All Star II a subtle revamp. The new version of the line features gum rubber along the sidewall, as well as the toe cap. For extra comfort, Converse replaced the original insole with a Nike Lunarlon insole and they added a padded non-slip tongue to go with it.

I am actually lucky enough to have tried these beauties before the release date (details below) over here in Canada. Converse is kind enough to send me a pair, just in time for spring. It may not be spring just yet, but it sure feels like it, especially the last couple of weeks. For once, I’m actually ecstatic to retire my winter boots and welcome a much more comfortable footwear. Sneakers are a great option for day-to-day activities, especially when you walk a lot. Loafers may be stylish, but they are not always the most comfortable shoes to wear. If you’re thinking of getting new shoes, definitely give this one a go.

Converse Chuck Taylor All Star II Gum comes in Black, White, Herbal, and Obsidian. It retails for $80-$85 CAD and will be available at Foot Locker, Hudson’s Bay, Little Burgundy and Sport Chek starting March 1st.
